One of the greatest determining factors of successful therapy is finding a therapist that’s the right “fit” for you. After all, how can you gain insight and awareness if you’re afraid to be yourself or share openly in sessions?

My brain-based approach to therapy is empathetic and nonjudgmental, helping you understand why you do what you do, so you can change your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and results you see and create in your life.  My mixture of compassion and “no-nonsense” directness allows you to explore your options and create the change you’re looking for.

Coaching

Not everyone who sees a therapist wants “therapy.” Sometimes people who are high-functiniong want to someone to meet with on a regular basis to ensure that they keep functioning at their highest capacity. These people either have no mental health diagnosis, or they have a diagnosis which is well-managed. 

People pay top dollar to ensure their body is at peak-performance.  Your brain is the control center of your body, soul and mind. Think of coaching as a gym-membership for these areas.  

Whether you want to achieve a goal, change your perspective, or maintain mental-strength, I show coaching clients the blind-spots in their thinking that keep them from reaching their goals or living the life to its fullest. 

IMPROVED FUNCTIONING

Has a trauma, circumstance, or mental health challenge lead to decreased function or ability to cope in your life?  There is nothing wrong with you. You are not broken! The human brain was created with an innate ability to heal and repair itself. Much as the body knows exactly what to do when we get a paper-cut, the brain knows how to regulate our emotions. But sometimes a wound is too deep or great…and the help of a professional is needed. 

I’ll teach you coping skills and offer you tools to help you process your emotions and gain awareness of the triggers or thoughts causing them.  

Challenging Parenting

When your child/teen/adult child struggles with a mental health disorder or a trauma history,  parenting can feel overwhelming and hopeless. Surprisingly, the “treatment” which has been proven most effective is, in essence, “solid parenting.”  I’ll help you explore how boundaries, unconditional love, enabling, control, and consequences play a role in the results you’re experiencing as a parent. 

Trauma Counseling

Survivors of trauma want to heal, get unstuck, or become even stronger having been through it. I work with issues ranging from chronic stress to post traumatic stress disorder. Whether you’ve been a victim of childhood abuse, a frightening car crash, or other traumatic event, I will walk alongside you on your journey to healing and recovery.

I consider the four aspects of the whole person: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I’m committed to helping people move past their fears to become the best version of themselves.
